you're at triple G's maxima site.

I created this site to document my work done to a 1991 nissan maxima SE. I have since stopped doing any work on it, but if you read through (start at the bottom)you will see the things I have done to the car in about 1.5 years time.

update: its sold

End of the Road, sorta.

February 14th, 2006

The maxima just hit 201,000 miles and its still going strong. I sold my 18 inch rims because I was planning on getting some forged 19s, but I decided to not do anything else with the maxima.

Its been fun modding it these past 2 years, but there comes a time when you have to think about other things. I will however be putting a new bumper on the front as my current one is cracked. I will also be getting my euro grill sometime soon, its been painted and I just need to pick it up.

I really hate to stop doing stuff to it, but I really want to save my money for a newer car in a year or so. Plus the maxima could use some preventative maintenance work, like timing belt and a spring tune-up. There are so many things I would love to do to this Maxima so who knows I may keep it around and when the funds show up do to it what Ive always wanted.... Here is a little something to remember what the 18s looked like on...HERE.

happy new year

January 12th, 2006

Well first, Happy New Year! The car is just chillin'. Im about to hit 200k on it and it is still purrin like a kitten. You might notice when you click on some of the links, the pictures will now pop up on the screen here. Little trick I added. pretty cool. Try it by clicking HERE. Shes getting a new bumper here shortly to replace the one with the slight crack in it, then the body will be 100% sweet, haha. i wish.

new tires/wheels

December 3rd, 2005

I went and had my Falken tires mounted on my 17 inch rims. The tires are 225/50/17 Falken Ziex 512 and the Enkei rims I dont know their name, but they are 17x7 with a 40mm offset. Id love to push them out a little bit, but seeing as how they are winter rims I probably wont bother.

The gallery of them is here.

euro parts in! the maxima will be in a calendar

November 11th, 2005

I got my european spec parts in the mail last week. This past weekend I went home and with the help of my dad, we drilled holes into the lights. We had to do this because the parts came without holes for lights. The reason I wanted these corner lights was because they are smoked and they match my e36 headlights perfectly. I also got a grille that I will be taking to Peckenpaugh Auto Body for paint.
Here is a picture of the two parts. Here is a picture with the lights on and one during the day.
Well I found out that my maxima will be in the 2006 Custom Enterprise...I was so happy, its cool to know that all the work Ive done to the maxima is worthy of a calendar.
I created a little video for the maxima, download it here (right click, save as)
PS. Its getting cold in Ohio and I dont like it.....

garaged for the winter!

October 22nd, 2005

Well heres the scoop with the maxima. Its going to my parents garage for the winter :) My dad just got a new jeep to tow his trailer, so I will be driving the 93 Cherokee, while my dad drives my Maxima every once in awhile during the winter. Im still waiting on my Euro spec parts to arrive and when they do Ill be taking some new pictures of the maxima with them on(hopefully by Novemeber 1st). Ive submitted some pictures to Custom Enterprise for their 2006 Maxima Calendar...that would be sweet to be in a calendar...

new wheels bought, went to a meet.

October 11th, 2005

Wow, its been awhile. I havent been working on the car like I had been. But I do have an update. Just this past weekend there was an OhioNissans.com meet. The pictures can be seen here. It was great time, I got to meet a lot of nissan enthusiasts. The car hasnt had much done to it. I want to tint the windows soon before it gets too cold out. I bought some winter wheels, I just need to get tires for them. They are 17x7 +40 offset Enkei racing rims. haha!!
Oh I almost forgot....I said screw the JDM bandwagon, im hitting the EDM look. details later, but new corner lights and grille....moohoohahaha Also one last thing, I changed the page a bit so it shows a random picture at the top now, refresh the page to see what im talking about.

flush mounted E36 lights.

September 23rd, 2005

Over labor day weekend my dad and I flush mounted my bimmer headlights to the maxima. Afterwords we washed my maxima and his 03 Altima SE. Here are the links to the pics: Pictures of the Light conversion, Picture of our cars face to face, Another shot of our cars together, And one last pic together
I am so pleased with the outcome. A lot of people have put bmw headlights in their 3rd gen maxima, but only a handfull have flush mounted them.

custom healights on their way!

August 30th, 2005

I just bought some headlight covers for my headlight swap. Ill be installing them next month with the help of my dad. I cant wait to have my headlights pointing straight and not up in the air and to have them flush mounted. Im on the lookout for some winter rims, but I cant figure out what i want. I am deciding between 3 types, either some cobra mustang rims( i know, but the offset and size is perfect) some mesh looking rims, or 5th gen stock rims. The timing belt is going to get replaced this coming month and hopefully the crack in my bumper wil get fixed then too. I've almost got the car where I want it and Im ready for a new a car, i really want a 350Z or maybe a used G35Coupe....just dreamin for the moment.

update on the bodywork

July 30th, 2005

Finally after so long of trying to get my car right with the rear side damage to my car, it looks great and I am more than pleased with Peckenpaugh Auto Body and the work EJ did. I might be swaping my interior over to black leather...a switch from the tan leather i have. I really need to get my headlights flush mounted asap. thats next on my list along with getting my CAI installed. Also got my radiator flushed and its amazing how fast my A/C gets cold! I love it! I get all my car needs(that i dont/cant do myself at the Maas Brothers Automotive They do the best work around and I always recommend them.

pictures from a maxima meet

July 5th, 2005

Took some pictures at the Maxima meet in Westlake, Ohio at Dave & Busters. I've added other peoples pictures as well. It was fun to see different maximas and meet other maxima owners.
I also did some work on my maxima this weekend. I had a slight hesitation problem, but only when i put it in gear for the first time. Found out from maxima.org that it was a small piece on the shifter under the car, its called a insulator. Mine wasnt even there so i put a new one on and my car shifts alot better and no more hesitation.
I also painted my intake tube. I bought it used, so it was scratched to hell and it was a blue color. So i sanded it all down and bought some engine enamel and painted it black to match everything else under my hood. I need to buy a filter and install it this coming weekend.
Lastly, this weekend i had my old muffler(not really old since its less than a year old) off. I had a 5th gen. max muffler welded on. The sound is so much quieter and yet i got a bit of a growl still there. My magnaflow muffler is for sale sold if youre interested.

new site look & meet coming up

June 23rd, 2005

I completely redesigned the website....sorta.  This saturday is the Ohio Maxima owners big meet.  We have about 22 maxima owners showing up.  It should be fun.  If youre lookin for info on it, go here

future project rant

June 6th, 2005

Ive got 4 projects i want to do to the car then im finished...i swear ;-) first is i have my headlights i need badly to be flush so I can aim them properly, because Im sick of squirel hunting at night (thanks to my dad for that funny)and in the process have my corner lights tinted to match the e-36 headlights better. Second, is my little color scheme thing. no its not a ricer yellow crazed look. I am going to be painting my calipers, my new cold air intake(CAI) and my new custom grille to match the accent color on the bottom of my car. The grille i had been working on for a month or two on and off. I like it. Third, is my CAI that i bought. Its a warpspeed brand, which is the same as my whole exhaust. that will be installed sometime soon. Fourth, i need some bass dude!!!! lol ok ok one last thing I will be taking off my magnaflow muffler, and be putting on a 5th gen maxima muffler(its dual chamber so it will only growl when i hit WOT) thats it i swear. Enough rantin'

a new look.

May 27th, 2005

The maxima has a new look now!! check it out.

teaser of new wheels

May 25th, 2005

Well, Ive been busy trying to get my bodywork redone, since the color didnt match perfectly and the rear fender wasnt pulled out far enough. As soon as I get my car back, Ill be putting my new wheels on!! Here is a little TEASER I hope to get them on in the next couple of days. Ill def. be taking a lot of pics once i finally have them on!! Also, check out the video section, kcidmil from maxima.org has uploaded a few vids of his new intake and his raven exhaust.

snow in april is not cool

May 1st, 2005

Hopefully these April showers(including snow!) will bring May flowers...err atleast some sunshine!! I rewired my corner lights to be bright all the time, i was tired of them not matching my headlights at all. Soon ill get led bulbs in tehre to make them super white and match like magic!

new suspension

April 24th, 2005

I finally installed my intrax springs, tokico struts and new cv axles with major help from my buddy LT and my dad... the pictures are HERE enjoy!

claybar...do it.

April 17th, 2005

So I spent this weekend detailing my car, because I have been uphappy with it. Here are the steps I took to make my cars original shine come out and get rid of some blemishes and tar and tree sap. I read up for about 5 hours on the internet and it seemed that the old school wash and wax it was all over the place. Well that never worked for me because I always waxed over blemishes(thinking they would come out) leaving them to bake into my paint, so I looked for an alternative. First step is to wash the car to get as much of the contaminents off the car as possible using a microfiber mitt. After letting it air dry my next step was to use Meguiars Quik Clay Detailing System. It consists of a clay bar and their own quik detailer spray. This stuff rocks, I had marks all over my car that came out with the use of the clay bar. I Swear by it now! Last step was to use Meguiar's Nxt generation Tech Wax. Basically use it like you have all those other waxs, put on whole car let haze then take it off. The awesome part about this stuff is its better than normal wax AND it comes off sooo easy. My paint looks sooo much better now and Im extremely happy with these products. Here is a picture of the things I used. Today I cleaned the interior and now i feel alot better about my car, because I had been in the "i hate my car" phase. Next week I hope to install my suspension that has been sitting in my apartment for awhile now. wheww, that was long...

not much of an update

April 7th, 2005

Not much has gone on with my car...Ive been saving up here and there to buy suspension components. Im shopping around for the best price on tires right now, Ive made my mind up on Kuhmo ASX 235/40/18 for my new shoes i bought, because I live in northwest ohio and who knows if it will snow in April or late Fall... I need to do alot of suspension work on my car, CV axles, springs, struts, control arm bushings(maybe) not to mention little things like new struts boots and maybe camber bolts for my springs. geez! And I know ill need new brakes real soon. Ive put a ton of miles on my car since i bought it last April, 41k to be exact!!

new pictures

March 17th, 2005

I added some pictures that i took after i washed it in the exterior gallery of my photos. Im slowly getting the car back to good. I really need to get under the hood and clean the crap out of it.

dhl are good at shipping /sarcasm

MArch 14th, 2005

Fixing the drivers side of my car has been going good. I bought a door which DHL decided to drop it likes it hot....drop it like its hot. Then I had the body work done, and it looks great. Gotta thank EJ at Peckenpaugh Auto for doing a great job. After DHL reimbursed me for the rear door I decided to go ahead and use it, since it can be fixed. I took the door apart basically so I can put SE trim on it and put in my door insert and window regulator from my current door, its not fun work. PS i gave the site a fresh new look. wuuuutahh!

new things bought

March 7th, 2005

I added my blehmco grounding kit on Saturday. Here is a picture of the quality of his work. Its black so its hard to see in the engine bay, plus i made it hard to see on purpose. Did some work on the back door, took the molding off so the door can be fixed. I hate DHL with a passion right now. Rear quarter panel was fixed and painted and looks great. I finally decided on some new shoes for the maxima. I kept wanting different ones, but i finally found some 18 inch g35 coupe rims at a great price. I bought some intrax springs over the weekend as well. As soon as my next check comes ill buy the Tokicos and then put those on very soon! its all coming together, mooohaha!!

update on the progress

March 2nd, 2005

Well I'll finally have a garage to work on my car this weekend. I'll be putting on my grounding kit and messing with my headlights and try to clean the engine bay. I've had a few people ask me to host video files for them so those should be up soon in the videos section. If you want me to host your video files, just send me an email, and I'll try my best to do what I can.

blehmco parts

February 17th, 2005

I finally got this in the mail. I hope to have it installed this weekend. Matt Blehm (come on now people learn how to spell that) of BlehmCo makes tons of sweet stuff that he has made for the Maxima, Sentra/200SX, and Altima. I hope to be getting some of his suspension mods soon. Check out his site or i'll break your neck(just kidding)

new writeup

February 5th, 2005

I added a write up on how to hardwire your radar detector into the sunroof controls.

new mod

January 30th, 2005

I added the always ready cruise mod by Craig Brace. You can find this and many other write-ups at his site. Next weekend I'm gonna install a starter kill switch and hopefully tackle hard-wiring my radar detector. Its not fun working on a car in the cold with no garage (tear drop--feel sorry for me lol).

not sweet

January 29th, 2005

Well, my car was in an accident and I've got some work cut out for me. I'm getting a new door, new side mirror and some body work done. My next mod will be a Intrax Spring drop (1.7") with some Tokico Struts for cornering. As soon as it gets warm out, which seems like never, I'll get around to flush mounting my bimmer headlights and finally take apart the dash and install a push button start and hardwire my radar detector.
